Sculptra

Sculptra is an injectable made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Instead of filling an area right away like a hyaluronic acid filler, it works with your body to rebuild collagen, the protein that keeps skin firm and full. Results appear gradually, so the change looks natural.

Who it is for

Sculptra is a good fit for adults who want to:

• Restore volume lost with age in the cheeks and temples
• Soften smile lines and fine lines on the cheeks
• Improve skin firmness and overall facial structure over time

It is FDA approved for correcting smile lines (nasolabial folds) and other facial wrinkles, and for fine lines on the cheeks.

Sculptra or filler?

• Fillers give an immediate result and are ideal for lips and precise contouring.
• Sculptra builds gradually over a few months and is ideal for overall volume and skin quality.

Many clients combine the two. Your provider will help you decide at your consultation.

What to expect

1. A consultation to review your goals and health history
2. Numbing for comfort, then a series of small injections
3. Most people need 2 to 3 sessions, spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart
4. Results build over several months and can last 2 years or more

Aftercare

For the first few days you will massage the treated area as directed (often 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days). This helps the product settle evenly.

Side effects

Swelling, tenderness, redness and bruising at the injection sites are common and short lived. Small bumps under the skin can occur, which is why technique and aftercare matter. Sculptra is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
