What to expect

Treatment usually takes 15 to 30 minutes, and many fillers contain lidocaine for comfort. Results are visible right away, with any swelling settling over a few days. Depending on the product and area, results last from about 6 months to 2 years.

Before your visit

You may be asked to avoid blood thinning medications, alcohol and anti-inflammatory drugs for a few days beforehand to reduce bruising.

Side effects

Bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness at the injection site are common. Rare but serious risks include infection or vascular occlusion, which is why fillers should always be placed by a trained medical provider.
